Unilever launches a fleet of driverless ice cream vans using self-driving Robomart vehicles

Robomart, the inventor of an independent grocery store on wheels, has agreed to partner with Unilever, the world’s largest ice cream producer, under its virtual storefront, The Ice Cream Shop.

Unilever will roll out a fleet of Ice Cream Robomarts this summer, which includes desserts from Unilever ice cream brands Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, Good Humor, Magnum Ice Cream and Talenti.

With our patented one-click grocery ordering technology, consumers can welcome The Ice Cream Shop Robomarts to their location using Robomart’s mobile app.

When he arrives, the user swipes through the app to open the car door. Robomart’s payment-free system allows consumers to simply pick and choose their products of choice – without actually checking or swiping their credit card.

Ali Ahmed, CEO and Co-founder of Robomart says: “We are excited to be working with Unilever – the world’s largest ice cream maker – to experience The Ice Cream Shop as one of the flagship storefronts in our new market.

“By experimenting with the classic ice cream truck by offering it to consumers on demand, we created a new way for everyone to get their favorite ice cream in less than two minutes.

“This launch brings to life the original vision that my partner organization and I had over a decade ago while working at Unilever to create ‘The Everywhere Store’ – the fastest and most accessible way to get all of your essentials.”

Robomart’s ability to deliver “entire store direct to homes” reduces the need for consumers to shop on the website, create a basket, check credit card, select a delivery window and communicate with delivery drivers.

“We are excited to partner with Robomart to offer a new way to bring our virtual store, The Ice Cream Shop, to fans in Los Angeles in an innovative way,” says Russell Lilly, General Manager of Unilever North American Ice Cream.

“Our pilot program with Robomart revolutionizes consumer ice cream delivery and makes it faster to get our beloved brands to our ice cream lovers. What better way to buy your favorite ice cream than just a few steps from your door?”

Robomart says it has experienced “tremendous growth and success” since launching it to the consumer in Los Angeles in June 2021 and receiving a patent for its “one-click grocery ordering” technology.

Robomart scored its fastest end-to-end experience, from the time a consumer opens the app to the time merchandise is in hand, in less than two minutes – “the fastest in the world”. Active users of Robomart, on average, praise Robomart to their site 2.3 times per week.

As its market share increases, the company says it has recorded 9 percent user growth and 10 percent weekly order growth.
