This dentist lost 21kg in 3 months by going on ‘music walks’
He was aware that he needed to take action, but since he was living alone in a foreign country, doing education and part-time work, he simply gave up on his health. This strong-willed 26-year-old went down from 106kg to 85kg with hard work and consistency. He lost almost 21 kg in 3 months. Let’s find out how he did it.
turning point
Avjit describes himself as a typical Punjabi who loves to eat. He has always been on the healthier side of things. Gained a significant amount of weight while studying in Canada. First, try to lose weight on your own by doing an online search. He couldn’t focus on his health because he was living alone in a foreign place, studying and working part time. It will eventually go to the most wholesome foods like fast foods and packaged food.
“We believe losing weight is a daunting task and this is the main reason why most people fail to manage work out along with a healthy lifestyle. When Avijit started having health issues and his weight was a barrier between his daily activities, that was when he got anxious,” says Rihanna. Qureshi, fitness instructor at Avijit, is a certified nutritionist and strength training instructor.Dieting
Avjit had a very hectic lifestyle. He attended college during the day and did a part-time job after college. This left him little time to cook or take care of his own nutrition. His nutritional plan was prepared keeping his hectic lifestyle in mind as a top priority. Each of his meals should be a filling meal so that he doesn’t feel hungry again and again and eat fewer meals.
Breakfast usually includes eggs cooked in ample olive oil (a healthy fat). Lunch will include a useful homemade wrap that is easy to prepare and carry. This was very important. We had to make sure his meals were easy to prepare. His fitness trainer advised him to go for very quick and easy recipes to motivate him to prepare his own food most days. Dinner will be a healthy meal with chicken or meat (because the client was a fan of non-vegetarian food) with some fried vegetables.
workout system
Avjit’s hectic lifestyle left him little time for sports. Avijit is a music lover. So he was encouraged to go for a walk and listen to his favorite music. And it worked brilliantly. He started liking his “Music Tracks”. Seeing the results made him so excited that he started working out as well.
Fitness secrets
The secret of this transformation was simplicity.
We’ve worked on a very basic approach here – the simpler it is for the customer, the more consistent it will be, and the better the results will be.
To add to this, tracking his daily progress gave him a sense that someone was watching him and motivated him not to give up.
The hardest part of gaining weight
Being overweight brings its fair share of other metabolic issues that affect our health more than weight itself. Add to this the confidence and psychological issues one faces.
What lifestyle changes have you made?
First and foremost, reduce his dependence on junk food and encourage him to cook his own meals. This was done by sharing some easy-to-prepare recipes with him. Also, late evening is the only free time he will have. We motivated him to go for a walk (after dinner) to listen to his favorite music. This helped his digestion of dinner and also improved his sleep pattern as he would go to bed tired.
