The Phillies steal the Eagles news during a busy sports week

What a week in Philadelphia sports! The Phillies have made several moves before the MLB trade deadline, and Eagles training camp is giving them more attention than the FBI’s involvement. Every throw and catch is scrutinized, every player quote is analyzed, summer is indeed upon us, and the South Jersey Beach Patrol races are coming down the pike. Tonight in Margate, 97.3 ESPN will be broadcasting live from the beach for the Margate Memorial Lifeguard Race from 6pm to 8pm. Then on Saturday afternoon former Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!! It’s a wonderful time of year in South Jersey!

Phillies and President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made three separate trades in the hours after the 6:00 p.m. EST MLB trade deadline. On Thursday night, we saw the debut of newly acquired starter Noah Syndergaard from the Los Angeles Angels. The Phillies beat the Nationals 5-4 in a rain-shortened game, but the man they call “Thor” still got the win, but didn’t look sharp in his first start for the Phillies. New center fielder Brandon Marsh got his first shot in a Phillies uniform after being acquired before the trade deadline and second baseman Jean Segura returning to the ball club.
