The American Dream program rewards students for academic excellence

In its ongoing commitment to the community, American Dream does something to reward students for doing well in school.

And I arrived at a school whose students have unlimited potential, but limited resources. Her mission at the school is to resolve all of her students to excel and graduate from the best colleges and universities in the country, despite many odds.

The mega entertainment complex recently announced that it is giving 1,500 students at CAPS Paterson (College Achieve Paterson Charter School) tickets to either DreamWorks Water Park or Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park.

The reason CAPS earn this honor is because they have achieved outstanding results on the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA), the state’s standardized test. CAPS Paterson students improved at every grade level in reading, math, and written expression.

CAPS Paterson students have also shown impressive gains in Strong Start assessments, which students completed in the fall. Across New Jersey, the pandemic has had a negative impact on many students, but even more so in the case of the most vulnerable, such as students at CAPS. However, not only have these children weathered the COVID storm, they have shown healthy growth.

So, they were recently rewarded with a day of fun with an American Dream program that allocated $75,000 to the school after it realized how its students bucked not only state trends, but national testing trends, through academic growth — even through Covid.

According to a press release, Gemar Mills, CAPS Paterson’s chief academic officer and executive director, had this to say about the award:

“We are very grateful to American Dream for wanting to put smiles on our scholars’ faces this holiday season by generously acknowledging their hard work. Our researchers have proven time and time again that if you set high standards and deliver a solid curriculum and resources, all students can and will rise to the top.” the top “.

Many companies in New Jersey say they support the community, but then again, American Dream has put its money where the fun is.
