|Sun Princess is a new Sphere-class cruise ship currently under construction for Carnival’s Princess Cruises brand. It will be the largest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet and the first ship in the cruise operator’s fleet to be dual-fuel and powered primarily by liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel technology.
Sun Princess is being built as part of Carnival’s focus on green cruising, which will include a total of 11 new ships powered by LNG.
Italy-based shipbuilding company Fincantieri is building the ship at the Monfalcone yard. The ship’s debut is scheduled for February 2024.
Sun Princess design and features
The Sun Queen will be 345.3 m long and have a total weight of 175,500 GT. It consists of a total of 21 decks and accommodates 4,300 guests. It will feature spacious seating, multi-story dining rooms and next-level staterooms.

The Crown Grill specialty restaurant will feature contemporary, elegant design and theater-style cuisine. Offerings include premium aged beef and fresh seafood. The restaurant will feature intimate dining in a classically elegant setting and an open kitchen where chefs will prepare and cook premium cuts of beef and seafood to order.
Guests can enjoy fresh pasta at the new Sabatini Italian Trattoria with sweeping round windows. The restaurant will feature a bistro-style interior design with intimate corners and a dramatic circular dining area.
Located on the upper deck of the piazza, the International Cafe offers small snacks, sweets and delicious drinks. Offerings include fresh croissants, pies, quiches and a variety of salads and sandwiches.
Alfredo’s Pizzeria will be a sit-down location located on the upper deck of the Piazza and will serve freshly made personal size pizzas. It features an open kitchen design that allows guests to watch pizzas being prepared in a wood-fired oven. Guests can enjoy their pizza outdoors or in the Piazza.
Gelateria offers fresh gelato desserts with a variety of classic flavors or optional toppings.

Route of the Sun Queen
The Sun Princess is scheduled to begin her first cruise season in February 2024. She will sail for a season of Mediterranean cruises, followed by Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale in late 2024.
