Recipe Tips and Tricks
- This delicious recipe can be made ahead of time and reheated in a preheated 350°F oven for about 10 minutes. Reheating warms the stuffed toast and makes it crisp again. If you want to keep the crisps, I would avoid heating it in the microwave.
- To fill the bread rounds with the filling, I used a spoon and pressed the filling down to completely fill the circle of the bread.
- The French bread I used came from Publix and was about 3 ½ inches in diameter. You can use any size French bread you can buy or have on hand.
- I like to use day-old bread in this recipe. This is because it is easier to cut.
- This recipe is just as good when you have chopped ham instead of sausage.
