Salamone’s Pizza, which has been serving New York-style pies from the Tacoma’s Stadium District since 2018, will soon open a second restaurant-this full-service dish includes pasta, sandwiches, Italian food and bar.

Nearly seven miles away from the original, Salamone’s Pizza Pub will be located at 7315 27th St. at University Place, east of Bridgeport Way, expected later this year.

Owner Steven Salamone said he always planned to open another store, but it took four years to find the right location, in the right area, at the right price.

“I knew I wanted to do something bigger,” he said in late June, noting the challenge for employers and employees to make a living by selling wood chips. The second avant-garde post will also add to his desire to provide benefits to employees. “The opportunity to sell food and sandwiches and snacks, and a full bar, would be a good thing for us.”

Salamone’s original, a training facility with a few tables downstairs and a few on the mezzanine, was designed to resemble a pizzeria in Brooklyn, where the owner grew up. After twenty years on Wall Street, he moved to the Tacoma area with his family and wanted to get a fair share.

When the Stadium store opened in August 2018, it was the only reliable source of 18-inch New York style, with cheesy slices available for sale for less than $ 4, in the Tacoma area. The name of the pie comes from Tribeca with sausage, pepperoni and olives to Brooklyn Bridge, a white sauce with spinach, meat and mushrooms. (Last year, Vashon’s Camp Colvos opened a Tacoma bathroom with its New York-style pizza reception.)

“We were successful from the beginning,” says Salamone. “It has just exploded ever since. We just do what we do, which makes good pizza, and thank God our community has responded to that. ”

In addition to a bar with Italian beer, wine and cocktails – old -fashioned with amaretto, for example – the menu at University Place will add several sections with a few items each: salads, appetizers, pasta and other foods, such as pasta carbonara and chicken parmesan.

“It’s kind of a concept of something for everyone. They want a hamburger and you want pizza, ”Salamone said, comparing it to The Cloverleaf, a popular pizza and pub in Tacoma’s West End, although there are other types of pasta. “This is the place for you because we both have it.”

Because of the larger kitchen, he also mocked the possibility of a pizza style beyond 18-inch New York, citing its connection to Chicago’s deep dishes. (In fact, a Chicago -themed restaurant in Spanaway is open.)

He worked actively at the new restaurant for two months, but the process began last fall.

Most of the 1,600 -square -foot space was formerly Pizza Hut Express, though the interior was destroyed to an unknown extent, he said, but the rest had Crossfit that moved north near Tacoma Community College.

In an effort to keep up with this familiar and familiar excitement, it plans to create a dedicated area for fast service with separate access for pieces and order of goods. Other entrances will lead to a dining room and living room, with plans for a TV, jukebox and possibly a pool table.
