It’s a festive affair, opulent luxury, and an evening that has it all – lush and green, gourmet and refined food and upbeat live music. This is The Bascom’s second annual fundraising concert, Monday, August 29, starting at 6:00 p.m. at The Farm at Old Edwards. As Bascom Board Member and Event Chair, Nancy Delsky said: Bascomand’s mission is to support living artists and arts education in the heart of the plateau. “Sure, one of the reasons to attend is the stunning setting for the party at The Pavilion at The Farm at Old Edwards. By all accounts, the venue is pleasing to the eye. With wide doors opening from the adjacent barn, the indoor/outdoor area borders with covered arbors and blossoming gardens with pear and pear trees and wildflowers Laurel Inside iron joinery Wooden beams and a massive wood-burning stone fireplace adorn the space, while the long tables are adorned with massive floral ornaments and oversized hurricane lamps Reason enough to buy a ticket is a live performance by the six-member Deas-Guyz Band, South Carolina: Formed Developed over two decades ago by band leader Reggie Dias, this six-member band is a Motown and R&B specific mixed with blues, pop, rock, reggae and dance.The music selections make a great sound – Luther Vandross, TheTemptations , Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, to SmokeyRobinson – songs that make you want to dance. Music so cheerful and cheerful you can’t help but explode from the disco moves. Old Executive Chef at Edwards Kris Huerta and Executive Chef Daniel Chase pull out all the stops, creating an upscale menu of uplifting, seasonal Southern dishes that make for a dazzling set for a seated dinner. In the beginning, passed appetizers include Madison Pimento cheese with home-baked milk crackers; Varieties of local watermelon with homemade salted prosciutto and buttermilk-fried lobster tail popsicles with Jack Daniels honey glaze. From the gardens and farms of Old Edwards, there is a salad of marinated heirloom tomatoes. Follow the delicious mains including the pimento split seared scallops with cream of chardonnay and baby arugula and grilled medallion – beef lion with fried leek rings and cabernet leek. (More menu items have yet to be announced.) The concert and kitchen is Bascom’s signature party, providing the main support for their annual program and operating expenses. So, put on your festive best, put on your dancing shoes and join the party. Free valet parking is available.
