Noble Pie: The interior of Calgary’s New York-style pizza place

Noble Pie is one of the best known neighborhood spots for anyone living on the Beltline.

The moment you walk in through the back alley entrance, you feel like you’ve stepped out of Calgary into a world of loud chats, beers and meticulously made pizza. This is a Brooklyn-like meeting point, from its decor to its ‘za’ style.

A restaurant with handfuls of pizzas made in two sizes, some even available in half and half. It’s the rarest place to go with a large group, but it’s also suitable for a first date. Everyone has heard of Noble Pie, but actually it is a must to go here, experience it and grab a big slice straight from the oven.

It may be pizza but it’s also one of the best restaurants in YYC.

Dished recently had the opportunity to sit in the dimly lit space surrounded by classic American artwork and pizza memorabilia.

We knew it was going to be a big pizza night, so we started the prep with some greens: the s0-non-classic Noble Caesar Salad. Made with lettuce, anchovy sauce, parmigiano reggiano, and toasted panko breadcrumbs, this hearty and delicious salad is crunchy in every bite.

We loved it, but we were ready for pie.

We tried two 13 inch pizzas and one large half and half 18 inch pizza which was more than enough to feed five people. There are eight different pizza options on the menu.

Bikini Bottom (tomato sauce, aged mozzarella, pineapple, prosciutto cotto, jalapeño, grana padano, pecorino, and scallions) and Brooklyn White (olive oil, garlic, aged mozzarella, ricotta, caramelized onions, grana padano, pecorino) we tried. , parsley and sesame seeds).

The huge half and half pizza we tried was a mix of The Roni (tomato sauce, aged mozzarella, Ezzo Pepperoni, banana peppers, grana padano, pecorino and Sicilian Oregano) and Extra Fancy (tomato sauce, garlic, aged mozzarella). , red onion, roasted mushrooms, Ezzo Pepperoni, jalapeño, grana padano, pecorino, and Sicilian thyme).

Although the pizzas were enormous, the crusts were perfectly crispy, light and wonderful in every bite. So were the sauces, and if you watch the kitchen you will see the kitchen staff carefully placing the sauces and sprinkling the cheeses.

The ambiance is authentic and so is the pizza, but the real fun comes with all the added sides you can’t get with pizza (and a great beer selection).

We got all the extras: basil leaves, roasted garlic sauce, jalapeno, banana peppers, anchovies and hot honey.

Starting out as a pop-up Noble Pie, it soon became famous for having some of the best pizza in town. We can say that the reputation is definitely well earned.

The next time you’re looking for the perfect pizza, you usually need to hop on a plane, fly to the East Coast, hop in a taxi, avoid a few mice, and try Noble Pie from a local, YYC.
