Warning: graphic content.

Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s home looked unassuming to the unsuspecting eye, but more chilling clues were found hidden inside.

Dahmer was convicted of 15 murders after killing 17 men and boys during a rampage between 1978 and 1991.

It is now documented in the hit Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The Ryan Murphy-produced series is currently number two on Netflix Australia.

As part of their investigation, police searched Dahmer’s apartment in Milwaukee before releasing images of the evidence they discovered.

They discovered dozens of graphic Polaroids depicting necrophilia, gruesome plans for a shrine and vats of acid Dahmer used to dissolve the remains of his victims.

HCl

As they stormed Dahmer’s apartment, police were greeted with a “rotting” smell of flesh and industrial chemicals when they headed inside, Salon reported.

Dahmer told his former neighbor Pamela Bass that the smell was caused by the freezer.

One of Dahmer’s victims, Errol Lindsey, was drugged in April 1991 before he drilled a hole in his head and poured hydrochloric acid into it.

Dahmer apparently experimented with murder techniques but was unsuccessful.

Lindsey woke up and complained of a headache before being strangled to death.

Just a month later, Dahmer repeated the experiment in which he drilled a hole in the head of 14-year-old Konerak Sinshasomphone before pouring acid into his skull.

It was part of an attempt to turn him into a “compliant zombie,” according to Crime and Investigation.

He admitted that skulls, frozen body parts and severed heads were stored in barrels filled with acid.

Dahmer also used bleach to whiten the remains, according to Ranker.

His father showed him how to bleach and preserve animal bones.

During his childhood, Dahmer collected road kill so he could dissect them, according to the Independent.

SPICES

When questioned, Dahmer admitted to eating his victims.

He claimed: “At first it was just curiosity, then it became compulsive.”

Homicide Detective Pat Kennedy found a human head in a cardboard container inside a refrigerator before seeing more spices.

He recalled, “There were condiments: mustard, ketchup, A-1 sauce, that sort of thing.”

Polaroids

Police officer Rolf Mueller discovered dozens of Polaroids of naked, slaughtered and dismembered victims while combing Dahmer’s lair.

The gruesome images, believed to be at least 80, were found in his closet.

The explicit photos showed Dahmer engaging in sexual acts with the corpses of some of his dead victims.

Dahmer was inside the apartment when Mueller unearthed the graphic images.

He tried to run away from home, but was arrested by the police.

Dahmer told the officers, “For what I did, I should be dead.”

Police also discovered a blood-soaked mattress and tools such as a hammer and saw where Dahmer would mutilate his victims.

Altar plans

Pictures of the child showed where Dahmer planned to decorate an altar with the skulls of his victims.

Painted skeletons would sit on either side of a long table in the back, which would be strewn with heads.

His lawyer, Wendy Patrickus, said Dahmer would tell him to sit down and look at “his own shrine to himself.”

Dahmer, who was known as the Milwaukee Monster, butchered men between the ages of 14 and 32.

Many of them were gay ethnic minorities, and his crisis lasted over 10 years.

Dahmer struck his first victim, Steven Hicks, after luring him back to drinking.

He hit Hicks with a dumbbell before strangling him with it.

Dahmer often strangled and drugged his victims.

Dahmer was sentenced to 900 years in prison before he was beaten to death by an inmate in November 1994.

The scorned killer

Christopher Scarver, then 25, was incarcerated at Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institution around the same time Dahmer arrived in 1992.

In a 2015 interview with New York PostScarver revealed that he despised Dahmer while they were incarcerated.

He claimed the madman taunted other inmates by fashioning body parts out of food and using ketchup as blood.

He said, “They would put them in places where people would be.”

Scarver confronted Dahmer about his crimes and was left “very disgusted”.

Dahmer tried to escape before being hit twice in the head with a metal bar.

He died of his injuries after being rushed to hospital.

Scarver claimed that God told him to commit the murder.

He received two additional life sentences and remains behind bars.

Decades after he was killed, Dahmer’s murder is now the subject of a new Netflix series.

Actor Evan Peters plays the serial killer.

The series contains 10 episodes and premiered on September 21.
