Nestlé Purina Petcare is taking category management strategy into the Metaverse with Blue Yonder and 3DVR Solutions

St. Lewis and Scottsdale, AZ and Brisbane, Australia – (working wire) – To improve customer experience and satisfaction, retailers are looking to offer personalized, easy-to-navigate assortment of product displays in their stores. That’s why Nestlé Purina Petcare, a leading manufacturer of pet care products, has successfully implemented Blue Yonder category management solutions integrated with 3DVR Solutions (3DVRS) virtual reality technology to help its retail partners by better merchandising their store shelves.

Purina is the number one pet care company in the united states, supplying more than 20 brands in the united states, and feeding 65 million dogs and 51 million cats annually. Purina provides its retail partners with shelf design schemes intended to market products to meet customer needs. However, with travel restricted during COVID-19 lockdowns, it needed an alternative way for its partners to work with its remote retail partners to replicate critical tasks that would otherwise be performed in front of a physical chart or in store.

Step into the innovative virtual reality (VR) headset solution for 3DVRS from 3DVRS, which combines chart data from Blue Yonder with a cutting-edge VR headset provider to deliver a fully interactive, network-based marketing solution. This integrated solution brings people from all over the world into a unique shared headset experience in the metaverse where they can plan, view and interact. The integrated solution is now also available to other companies looking to solve similar challenges.

With this integrated solution, Purina has achieved some key benefits:

  • The need to be in a physical store to make stocking decisions was removed by bringing people together in the metaverse, which in turn reduced the environmental impact from reduced travel and lower training costs.

  • Reduce time to sell off the shelf with an interactive infographic before moving on to a real product.

  • Incorporate real-world factors into shelving layout.

  • Partner with retailers to enhance the customer’s in-store journey and share global best practices.

3DVRS integration with Blue Yonder provides flexibility, speed and scope, giving us the ability to effectively deploy across businesses. The evolution from desktop virtual reality to network avatars in the RVS VR Headset solution has been seamless. “We can now hold meetings virtually in the metaverse, interacting with layouts, products, and store innovations, allowing us to be right on the cutting edge,” said Gene Feldman, Director of Training, Purina.

Together, category management from Blue Yonder and 3DVRS solutions from RVS VR have enabled Purina retail partners to make faster, more accurate, localized space allocation decisions to help their customers find the products they need more easily while ensuring a better shopping and service experience.

“Purina is a great partner for innovation because they are always looking at the latest technology to give their business an edge. The challenges they presented have pushed technological boundaries. Our integration with Blue Yonder gives us a platform to support large organizations like Purina. It’s great to bring new technology to market that makes a real difference. Nigel Hemmer said, CEO and Founder of 3DVR Solutions It’s amazing what we’ve already achieved together, but I feel like there’s even more to come.

“Working with 3DVRS has allowed us to bring Blue Yonder blueprints to life in a metaverse where users can sell merchandise, analyze, interact and converge as an avatar to design shelves that meet customer needs. This is cutting edge technology at its best and Purina was one of the first to take advantage of it. By creating With a culture of innovation and thought leadership across the organization, Purina is building a great place to work for both its partners and retail partners,” said Philipp Teschmacher, Corporate Vice President, Manufacturing – EMEA, Blue Yonder.
