Meghan Markle’s favorite American restaurants

Let them eat steak!

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have kept a low profile since moving to Montecito, California in 2020 after leaving the Firm.

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made occasional public appearances to dine at some great restaurants, including Italian eateries, fine steakhouses, and exquisite French cuisine staples.

Here’s a guide to some of the American hotspots that the Princess of Montecito has frequented since she became royal.


Lodge Verde

Markle went out to dine at Tribeca’s hotspot Locanda Verde in July 2022.

As Page Six reports, Markle specifically ate there with Prince Harry and “pretended like a princess” when her table request was not fulfilled. The security team also prevented diners from taking pictures of the couple.

Markle was said to enjoy some red wine alongside Sardinian sheep’s milk ricotta, steak tartare Piemontese, and My Grandmother’s Ravioli.

Andrew Carmellini’s Italian restaurant offers delicious desserts such as ricotta panna cotta and warm cherry pie for two, among other delicacies such as lamb meatballs, pappardelle, and whole lobster.

Crosby Bar

People dined at The Crosby Bar at the Crosby Street Hotel in Markle, SoHo, during the same trip to the Big Apple in July 2022.

There, after the Duchess’ visit to United Nations headquarters, she joined activist Gloria Steinem for a short lunch.

Perfect for a British Crown, this upscale venue is known for serving sophisticated afternoon tea. Smears include finger sandwiches and raspberry ganache pies, and sweet treats like lemon ricotta cake, homemade scones, and cream cheese. But afternoon tea will cost a pretty penny at $60 per person.

Customers can also enjoy dishes such as burrata scramble, cacio e pepe, buttermilk pancakes, cinnamon raisin challah french toast, and crispy wasabi popcorn shrimp.

Markle stopped by the famous Melba’s in Harlem for a date night with Prince Harry, where her husband tried chicken and waffles for the first time in September 2021.

As Page Six reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were served Southern fried chicken and eggnog waffles, brioche, catfish, collard greens, and sweet potatoes.

While there, Markle and Harry chatted with the restaurant’s owner, Melba Wilson, about City Harvest, a nonprofit food recovery business.

Signature dishes in comfort food heaven include fried catfish and eggnog waffles, short ribs braised in wine, trés macaroni and cheese, Southern crab cakes, spinach and cheese empanadas, and chili onion rings.

Lucky’s Steakhouse

Markle and her husband went to dinner at Lucky’s Steakhouse in Montecito, Cailf. When they first moved to Santa Barbara in 2020.

Then in October, the couple enjoyed a date night at the steakhouse with friends Katharine McPhee and David Foster.

They clearly enjoyed their time at the restaurant as they ate there for three hours.

The steakhouse is known for its cheddar and bacon burger, alongside meat dishes such as beef tenderloin, T-Bone steak, filet mignon medallions, homemade porterhouse, New York strip steak, and aged prime rib.

Markle may have learned of Lucky from her close friend Oprah Winfrey, who goes there often.


SoHo, New York

Markle went to French Patisserie Ladurée in SoHo in 2019.

According to Harper’s Baazar, the Duchess and her best friend Jessica Mulroney enjoyed tea and cakes in the bakery’s private room before the baby shower while pregnant with her son Archie.


Ladurée’s flagship location is located in Paris and has since opened several stores in America.

Ladurée is best known for its incredibly tender macarons, but they also offer delectable eclairs, pies, cakes, cookies, and croissants.

Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges

Upper East Side, New York

Markle also dined at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s The Mark on the Upper East Side. The venue was the site of the star-studded baby shower that year.

Markle was photographed exiting the service entrance of the luxury restaurant inside The Mark Hotel to avoid the crowds as she made her debut in 2019.

The main dishes to order from The Mark include egg caviar, a Jean-Georges classic, as well as black truffle pizza, grilled black sea bass, The Mark cheeseburger, watermelon and goat cheese salad, and chicken and coconut milk soup.

Cafe Boulud

According to E, she was supposed to dine at Flora Bar but after being surrounded by paparazzi and fans she made the switch! News.

Café Boulud, owned by chef Daniel Boulud, closed its doors after 20 years during the pandemic but will reopen in a new location, according to the restaurant’s website.

The Michelin-starred venue was known for signature dishes such as Dover tongue, sweet pepper risotto, foie gras, and heirloom tomato salad.

Polo Bar

As Page Six reports, Markle dined at Ralph Lauren’s exclusive restaurant with Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney, Misha Nonoo, Abigail Spencer, and Markus Anderson. He was also joined by a large security team.

It’s hard to get a reservation at The Polo Bar, but once you’re inside, diners can enjoy the Polo Bar Burger, caviar and French fries, Ralph’s corn sandwich, and pork in a blanket. And don’t fill your desserts without eating them. We recommend their old-fashioned five-layer chocolate cake.


Los Angeles and Toronto

Markle’s favorite Toronto restaurant, the Italian main restaurant Terroni, also has two locations in LA.

The former “Suits” star opened up about her love for the restaurant in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2017, when Prince Harry made their relationship public.

Speaking of the hot peppers served at the restaurant, “They’re really hot, but if you’re good with heat, I think they’ll be your new favourite.” said.

Sourced from the Puglia region of Italy, peperoncini piccanti can be purchased from the restaurant’s online store for just $13 per jar.


West Hollywood, California

According to Hello Magazine, Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly regulars at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood.

But sometimes, when the Duke of Sussex is having a simple dinner at an Italian restaurant with some friends in March 2022, Harry likes to hit it off alone.

The couple also enjoyed Cecconi’s meals at the restaurant’s Amsterdam location for Soho House founder Nick Jones’ 55th birthday in 2018, Yahoo! reported.

Dishes from Cecconi include wood-oven pizzas, ricotta ravioli, cavatelli lamb stew, and eggplant parmigiana.

If Markle has a maquis craving, Sugarfish is her place to go in Los Angeles.

A source told Britain’s Closer magazine that in 2022, Markle and Harry often return to the popular sushi line for some sushi and sashimi.

With locations in California and New York, Sugarfish’s obvious favorites include sushi and buns, sashimi, and edamame for snacking.
