Martina McBride shares recipe for special BBQ ribs in new video
|If there’s anyone who knows how to make the perfect BBQ ribs, it’s that Martina McBride.
The country superstar — who has been cooking for years — told her Instagram followers about the secret to her homemade barbecue sauce, sharing the recipe along with a cooking tutorial video.
“I recently made ribs in the grill. They were great!” the “A Broken Wing” singer wrote on Instagram on March 14, sharing a narration video of her assembling the tasty concoction.
“This homemade BBQ sauce recipe is the one I’ve been making for over 30 years. There are a few steps I didn’t film in the sauce recipe, so read it carefully,” she wrote. “To enjoy!”

In the clip, McBride, 56, is first shown rubbing spices on the ribs, before leaving them in the fridge for a few hours to marinate.
McBride – who previously had a cooking show on the Food Network titled Martina’s table— cooked her ribs on a grill for the video and showed her followers the step-by-step process.
But it’s the musician’s special sauce that really makes the dish so delicious, so she shared a detailed breakdown of “Martina’s Sweet Hot BBQ Sauce” in the caption of her video.

“You can adjust this recipe to suit your personal preference. Want it sweeter? Add more brown sugar (which I eventually did),” she wrote. “Want it spicier? Add more cayenne pepper. Or leave it out if you don’t like heat. You can adjust it however you like. One step I forgot to film is adding the slurry of cornstarch and water and whisking to make it thicker. I like a thick sauce, so this is an important step for me.”
Here’s the full recipe from Martina McBride’s Instagram page:
1 cup ketchup
1 cup of water
1/4 cup tightly packed brown sugar (more to taste)
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. Chili powder
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more or less to taste)
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce (I like Lea & Perrins)
1 tbsp. Cornstarch
1/4 cup water (for the thickening paste)
Add all ingredients down to the cornstarch (wait in there) to a small saucepan over medium heat.
Cook uncovered for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. If sauce is too thin, whisk cornstarch into water, increase heat, whisk in cornstarch-water mixture and whisk until thickened. You can repeat this step if you want it to be thicker
After completing the recipe, the country singer and cookbook author sliced the perfectly cooked ribs for the camera to see before diving in and taking a bite out of them.
“Delightful!” she exclaimed.
