At Coles Local in Sydney’s Birkenhead shopping center on Thursday, celebrity chef Manu Feildel added his own range of sauces.
The ‘My Kitchen Rules’ judge, 48, rocked a navy ‘Sauce By Manu’ T-shirt as she strolled down the aisles of the supermarket after an in-store tasting event.
Manu browsed the health food section before picking up a small bottle of mineral water.
He then went to the self-service counter to buy his supplies.
Manu’s range has gained popularity in recent years after it embarrassingly discovered that its sauce packets were one of the few products Australians didn’t stock up on during the 2020 Covid pandemic.
That’s when the celebrity chef tried to whip up his signature sauce when he noticed there were still plenty of packets on the empty shelves at his local Woolworths.
Although customers cleared the fresh meat section, they didn’t seem interested in its delicious sauce.
“You guys know how much I love my sauce,” Manu said in an Instagram video of his shopping trip.
Running to the nearest empty shelves, he added, “Then we can make some mutton. And lots of sauce. Yes!”
The My Kitchen Rules judge shocked fans before urging them to “be kind”.
‘Nowadays it’s harder to go to the shops for dinner after work, empty shelves everywhere!’ he wrote.
“Be kind to each other and only buy what you need (and I always need sauce) so everyone has enough when they need it,” he added.
After consumers struggled to find them on supermarket shelves, the products have completely changed with sauces in fancy packaging.
“I feel like another proud dad as I introduce you to a bolder range of @bymanuf sauces,” he said on Instagram last month.
“We listened when they said they were hard to find on the shelf, so we’ve made the changes to a brighter, more eye-catching packaging!” I hope most of you can find them easily now.’
“It’s the same delicious sauce, just a new package,” he added.
Manu’s signature sauces are available at Woolworths supermarkets and Coles Local.
