What’s in Starbucks Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew?

Starbucks uses Nitro Cold Brew as the base for their Nitro Cold Brew with Cinnamon Caramel Cream. Cold brew differs from regular iced coffee in terms of the brewing process—Starbucks makes its cold brews by slowly steeping the beans for 20 hours and then filling them with nitrogen as they flow through the tap (hence the “nitro”). The result is a creamier, sweeter and less bitter brew than your typical cold coffee. Starbucks also says the nitrogen infusion “creates microbubbles, giving the coffee a cascading, frothy texture” with a rich, creamy foam head. And there’s no ice to get in the way of your experience. Nitro cold brew is mixed with two pumps of cinnamon-caramel syrup and sprinkled with vanilla sweet cream cold mousse and cinnamon dolce.

How does Nitro Cold Brew with Cinnamon Caramel Cream taste?

The ad for Nitro Cold Brew with Cinnamon Caramel Cream says it’s “deliciously smooth,” and they’re not wrong. IT it was delightfully smooth. It had that classic silky nitro feel and I detected zero bitterness in the beans. In fact, the brew had some bright, fruity undertones, and it paired perfectly with the creamy cloud of cinnamon-sweet creamy cold foam. I thought the nitro cold brew had a really nice aftertaste and not sour like many iced coffees (even poorly made cold brew).

Starbucks definitely came up with the idea of a caramel cinnamon roll in a glass, but I would sprinkle extra cinnamon on top if I ordered it again to really pop the flavor. Also (even with 32 grams of sugar) I didn’t think it was nauseatingly sweet. The cinnamon sweet cream cold mousse was perfect. It wasn’t too heavy and didn’t leave an oily film in my mouth like some cream-based drinks or sauces do. Actually the foam was my favorite part and I couldn’t get enough of it. The cinnamon caramel flavor was a little more pronounced here, and the texture was almost like melted sweet cream ice cream mixed with fluffy cotton candy.

Next time I’d try incorporating some cold brew into it rather than leaving it out for him to enjoy at the end, although he was pleasantly surprised at the end.
