As much as we love Easter candy, we have to admit that our favorite part of the holiday has more to do with what we can make out of the dozens of real eggs we buy to decorate, not what’s inside the plastic Easter eggs. for holiday. Deviled eggs are always a favorite and there are about a million different ways to spice them up, but if you’re looking for another option, Giada De Laurentiis has the answer. She just shared her recipe for rustic pizza, also known as Italian Easter cake, and it’s a cheesy dish that requires about 5 eggs to help you use up leftover Easter eggs.

According to De Laurentiis, this southern Italian dish is a traditional Easter favorite and can even be made ahead of time so you don’t have to be stuck in the kitchen all day at Easter.

It is also quite versatile. “While you need eggs and cheese to hold everything together,” De Laurentiis says, you can pretty much replace any other ingredient by adding your favorite vegetables, herbs, seasonings, and protein.

The crust has a crunchy bite, thanks to the addition of cornmeal that helps it hold up to the filling.
