Cindysnacks Of Huntington Wins Humane LI’s ‘Business Of The Year’

Huntington, NY — Cindysnacks, a vegan market in Huntington, was named Humane Long Island’s “Business of the Year.”

Animal rights groups cited Cindy Snack’s “unparalleled entrepreneurial spirit” on Long Island.

Owned by Huntington couple John and Cindy Stengel, the all-vegan Huntington Market sells vegan products. It offers everyday essentials like vegan eggs and butter and dairy-free artisan cheeses, as well as hard-to-find items like vegan truffles and the Go Max Go Bar, which mimics a candy bar.

Cindysnacks opened at 210 Wall Street in August 2019.

John Stengel previously told Patch: “It’s a very judgment-free zone here, vegan where you know everything is vegan and you don’t have to check labels and you can have a fun experience knowing you’re in a safe place.” I wanted to offer it.”

John Di Leonardo, an anthropologist and president of Humane Long Island, said the Cindysnacks earned the honor because of Stengels’ generous support for animal welfare.

“While Long Island businesses were still recovering from the pandemic and families continuing to grow, John and Cindy Stengel never stopped putting animals and communities first. We donated turkey tofu to food sharing and families struggling with food sharing, sending vegan ham to humane Long Island to trade for live birds at New York City’s live animal slaughter market.” said Di Leonardo.

Celebrities such as Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian have pushed veganism into the mainstream, and Di Leonardo noted that fast food chains are starting to offer vegan products.

According to Humane Long Island, Cindysnacks will display leaflets promoting animal rescue in its windows and tip jars at the counter that contribute to animal rights.

“Cindysnacks is proud to be Long Island’s one-stop-shop for vegan products, catering to every craving, from plant-based meats and dairy-free cheeses to nut-based milks, sweets and snacks. We carry a wide variety of vegan groceries that will satisfy you!” John Stengel said via a news release. “We are proud to offer a wide range of gluten-free and allergen-friendly products that make living a kinder, healthier life easier. This award-winning friend of Humane Long Island and a local Thank you to the residents of Huntington for supporting the work.”
