Burns night supermarket deals: £1.49 haggis, £14 whiskey and 39p neeps – Asda to Aldi

As Burns Night takes place this week, we take a look at what major supermarkets have on offer.

From whiskey discounts to cheap haggis, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s are all on offer this Burns Night.


Working with local suppliers to help celebrate Burns Night, Asda has everything you need to create your very own Burns Supper, serving traditional Scottish delicacies including vegetarian haggis.

Great savings are available on selected bottles of Scotch whiskey from local distiller – Loch Lomond – to toast the occasion with a feast.

Aldi Scotland has launched its popular budget Burns Night range.

In-store from January 19, the discount retailer is offering even cheaper prices in its festive Burns Supper spread, meaning four diners can enjoy a full feast of Scottish haggis, naps and tatties for just £0.81 (£3.26 total).

This year, Aldi Scotland is offering its popular Macaulay’s Haggis at a promotional price of just £1.49 (454g).

In addition, the retailer will have a limited number of Simon Howie’s specially selected Head Haggis for just £3.39 (908g).

Created by a Perthshire butcher to traditional Scottish recipes, Simon Hovey prides itself on quality food at budget prices.

A haggis celebration is never complete without the traditional ‘neeps and sweets’. Available at Aldi, a 2.5kg bag of Maris Piper potatoes is just R99, while Neeps are now R39.

For customers wanting a plant-based option, Aldi Scotland offers Macaulay’s Vegetarian Haggis (£1.49) as well as a gluten-free option from Simon Howie (£1.99).

If you don’t have a gadgie this Burns night, Aldi Scotland has a selection of classic takeaways including Punjab Pakora Haggis Pakora with Tomato and Mint Sauce (£1.59), Specially Selected Haggis Bon Bons (£2.29), Simon Howie’s Haggis Olives (£2.99), Special Selection Beef and Haggis Pastries with Pepper Corn Sauce (£3.99) and Simon Howie’s Curried Haggis Bons (£1.99).

To wash down the Bard’s festive fayre, Aldi Scotland stock Scotland’s favorite fizzy drinks including Barr’s 1901 Irn Bru (£1.99, 750ml), Irn Bru (£3.99, 12x 330ml), Irn Bru Sugar Free, (£39.99) sells in retail trade. 12x 330ml) and Irn Bru Xtra (£3.99, 12x 330ml).


Burns night deals

For those of you looking to stock up on a thrifty dram for the Bard this Burns night, look no further than Lidl’s whiskey range.

Starting at just £14, Lidl’s Balmuir 3 Year Old Blended Scotch Whiskey is a bargain buy.

There is also a 5-year-old Glen Orchy Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey or Abrahan Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey, priced at £15.49 and £16.99 each.

In addition, award-winning Ben Bracken Highland, Islay and Speyside single malts are priced at £16.99 a bottle.

For food, Lidl has haggis, neep and tatties for just 72p for up to six people.

Look out for Donald & Sons XXL haggis for £2.99 (1.136kg), plus a whole bag of scotch turnips for 45p and blonde bella potatoes for 89p (1.5kg).

All products are available in Lidl’s 111 stores across Scotland while stocks last.


If you have a Clubcard, Tesco has money off Simon Howie’s original haggis. That’s £2.25, down from £2.75.


Sainsbury’s has deals on meat and veg haggis, with Simon Howie’s original and vegetarian haggis on offer for £2.25 and Mcsween’s haggis for £2 400g.

Potatoes are priced in line with Aldi at £1.25 for 2.5kg.
