His three shows at The Brooklyn Mirage in the fall were completely sold out, so naturally, his MSG show is next on the agenda. Avant Gardner and The Bowery Presents have collaborated before, but this performance at The Garden is their largest collaboration to date.

Coffee has been a mainstay at festivals around the world since the release of his “Subconsciously” LP in 2021, as noted by EDM.com. As a result of this project, he became the first African artist to win Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammys. He also contributed to several songs on Drake’s 2022 album, “Honestly, Nevermind.”

The concert is a continuation of the recent surge in popularity of dance music at Madison Square Garden, which began with the sold-out performance by Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred Again last month.

“I genuinely try to carry the flag of my country in everything that I do,” Black Coffee told Billboard back in 2022, before the Grammys. “So to be able to represent on behalf of my people at such a prestigious and global level is a major honor. There is so much incredible talent coming not only from South Africa, but coming from the African continent as a whole, and being able to bring our culture to these types of platforms only opens the window of opportunity further and further for all of these incredible acts.”

The MSG show will take place on October 7, 2023, according to an announcement on Friday. Tickets went on sale to American Express members on March 14 and will be available for Black Coffee’s top Spotify listeners to purchase on March 16. General public sales to go live on March 17.
