Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list includes three Malaysian spots

From Kuala Lumpur to Singapore and Tokyo to Seoul, here are the restaurants on the 2023 list of Asia’s Top 50 Restaurants 51-100.

We are just days away from announcing the full list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 in Singapore on March 28, 2023. Prior to that, the organization discovered, for the third time, all the restaurants that have ranked from 51st to 100th. The good news is that the Malaysian food scene is also represented with three restaurants. They include Dewakan, Eat & Cook and Nadodi. The restaurants ranked 74th, 79th and 94th respectively. A total of 17 cities in total made the 51-100 list this year.

This year’s 51-100 list includes 17 newcomers, such as Sketch in Tokyo, L’évo de Toyama (first for the city) and Meet The Bund in Shanghai as well as Claudine from Singapore. In 95th place is Jakarta-based August, a restaurant that recently received the American Express One To Watch award. So, keep an eye (and a palace) on them. The title of Asia’s best female chef went to Johanne Siy from Lolla in Singapore, while Shinobu Namae from L’Effervescence received the Icon Award.

Last year’s list saw Tokyo’s Den take the top spot with Sorn (Bangkok), Florilège (Tokyo), Le Du (Bangkok) and The Chairman (Hong Kong) rounding out the top five. Will Den maintain his #1 position this year? Or will it go to one of the top five restaurants of 2022? Guess we’ll have to stay tuned for the upcoming ceremony at Resorts World Sentosa to find out.
