Cincinnati Zoo's beloved hippo Fiona turned 6 this week and she celebrated in a big way. Fiona, of course, was given a birthday cake fit for a queen. Watch the video of Fiona enjoying her cake in the video player above. Born six weeks premature at the Cincinnati Zoo on January 24, 2017, Fiona weighed just 29 pounds at birth, 25 pounds less than the lowest recorded birth weight for her species. She survived thanks to the tireless efforts of her animal care team to save her, and has inspired many to care about her species and her wildlife. Zookeeper Mark Tewes says it's hard to believe that Fiona is already six years old. "As she gets older, we see Fiona mature into an adult hippo," Tewes said. "She has persevered through it all. Of course, she is on her way to remaining a healthy adult." Female hippos are considered mature when they are between 4 and 7 years old. "She's pretty much a normal hippo at this point, luckily we're still looking for her to gain a little bit of weight, she's still on the smaller end," Tewes said.
