15 French Fries You’ll Never Eat Again
The world has come a long way from the basic salty potato chip.
Flavors have become much more unique, with some incorporating both salty and sweet flavors.
In addition to this, there have also been a lot of innovations in how fries are cooked and even what they are made of.
Chips made with avocado oil have become a popular snack at Target, while chickpea-based chips have also hit the market.
With each new chip introduced, another seems to leave the shelves in a never-ending circle of chip life.

The US Sun rounded up 15 chips you’ll never see again, with some sure to be missed more than others.
1. PRIVATE SELECTION CHIPS SWEET SOUTHERN HEAT FOR BARBECUE
Earlier this year, Kroger removed the snack despite customer claims that it was the “best on the market.”
Twitter user Renee (@renee41961) said her family couldn’t find the chips when they went to their local Kroger store in White House, Tennessee.
The retailer apologized and said the item had been discontinued.
Renee said: “These were the best BBQ chips on the market. [I] should have had samples in stores.
“Everywhere I took them people were amazed at the taste.”
2. 3D DORITOS
Fans got their hopes up when these pyramid-shaped extra-crispy chips made a quick comeback in 2021.
Unfortunately, they didn’t last long.
A review on Walmart’s website said the snacks “are just *a kiss from the chef*.”
They’re few and far between these days, but if you want to give it a shot, you can use the Doritos.com product locator to see if you can find a bag.
3. JACKED BUFFALO RANCH DORITOS
Four years ago, Doritos unexpectedly discontinued its JACKED Ranch Dipped Hot Wings flavor.
Despite this, fans rallied to bring the popular snack back to stores.
According to a Change.org petition, it was pulled from shelves due to lack of interest, but consumers disagree.
Die-hard Doritos fans said on the website, “No other ‘spicy/hot’ flavor even comes close in comparison!
“I CAN’T BE THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVED THESE CHIPS! So help me get these chips back on the shelves! I miss them.”
Since the petition to bring them back was launched, it has received over 63,000 signatures and the movement has continued well into 2022.
4. MALTA TORTILLA CHIPS WITH GREEN SAUCE FROM THE MERCHANT
Trader Joe’s confirmed that it has discontinued its Salsa Verde flavored tortilla chips.
The chain has also been giving away the product in recent weeks to get rid of excess stock.
One fan wrote about the move online, saying: “No way. It’s the absolute best chip!! How can they discontinue it?!!!”
“They discontinued the salsa verde tortilla chips at Trader Joe’s… WE RIDE AT DAWN,” said another on Twitter.
5. ARCHER FARMS BUFFALO ALE POTATO CHIPS
Target decided to replace the Archer Farms product line, bringing with them these delicious potato chips.
The closest alternative may be hot wing flavored fritters, but not all Target shoppers are satisfied.
One shopper expressed nostalgia for the lost Target deal on Reddit: “Anyone still missing Archer Farms. I know, I know, Good and Gather are supposed to be the same thing, but they’re not.”
6. LAY’S FRIED GREEN TOMATOES
These chips were part of a special campaign with the singing competition TV show The Voice.
The “Make Us a Flavor” campaign features unique flavors submitted by fans across the country who then vote for their new favorite.
If you really want to try them out, you can pick up a bag on eBay for a mind-boggling $150, despite the 2021 expiration date.
7. TRADER JOE’S KETCHUP CRUNCHIES
These weren’t your ordinary chips.
The fries’ unique shape and ketchup flavor attracted curious guests before the snack was eventually discontinued in 2019 due to a lack of mass appeal.
If you’re really craving it, you can try Lay’s Ketchup Flavored Potato Chips for $13 a bag on Amazon.
8. CHEETOS SAUCE WITH CHEESE
Crisp, puffy, spicy; Cheetos come in so many varieties that it’s hard to get bored of them.
The cheesy snack got even cheesier with the flavor of salsa con queso, adding hints of spice, lime and tomatoes.
9. GUACAMOLE DORITOS
These fries got rid of the need for a dip with the amazing avocado flavor.
It seemed like a match made in heaven when they were first introduced in 2003.
Unfortunately, they were only around for three years before being discontinued in 2006.
10. SWEET AND SPICY BBQ SUN CHIPS
Lay’s was working hard when it released this version of the classic barbecue chip.
The multi-grain snack was flavored with molasses, brown sugar and honey to balance the spicy hints of the barbecue flavor.
11. LAY’S CHEDDAR BACON MAC AND CHEESE
As if mac and cheese wasn’t already one of the best comfort foods around, Lay’s added bacon to make it even better.
Unfortunately, this flavor was introduced as a limited edition in 2019.
Once fans had bought all the bags, he was never seen again.
If you want to try a flavor combination, you can make this mac and cheese with potato chip crust at home.
12. CONDITIONING OF THE LORD DE CAPE COD COD
Incredibly Crispy Fries stepped it up with the introduction of this flavor.
Perfect for landlocked seafood lovers or anyone looking for something new, this appetizer also had a surprisingly spicy kick.
13. CLANCY’S LEMON CHIPS
A simple twist of lime elevated these fries to a tasty snack.
Although Clancy’s has discontinued the flavor, there are several other brands that still offer it.
You can pick up Lay’s Limón chips from Target, Tostio’s Hint of Lime, and even a Great Value version from Walmart.
These chips looked like Doritos, but tasted like a fresh slice of pizza.
Made by the Keebler company, these fries were made from pizza dough instead of potatoes.
They came in several classic pizza flavors before they were sadly discontinued in the 1980s.
15. KROGER KETTLE COOKED CUBAN SANDWICH CHIPS
Another blow to Kroger’s snack line was the discontinuation of these chips.
A shopper, known as Lisa (@Lisamw912), asked Kroger if they had discontinued their store-brand Cuban-flavored fries.
He revealed that he had been looking for the item for months.
Kroger revealed that the product is currently “out of stock,” but shoppers have been left in the dark.
They added: “We cannot say for sure if it will return. We will share your wish to recall the product with our product teams.”
