📰 Here are today’s top stories in Long Beach:

  1. An argument between neighbors led to a Sunday night stabbing at the 6600 block of Hammond Avenue. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded just before 5 a.m. and found a man with stab wounds. He explained that he got into an affair with his neighbour, a 32-year-old man, who was promptly booked “for assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm. The bail was set at $30,000.” (LBPD)
  2. A small dog named Tofu ran without his human caretakers in the Junipero Beach parking lot around 6 p.m. Saturday. Something frightened the pup, and she ran into the ocean and paddled 500 feet from the beach. However, a quick-thinking Long Beach Lifeguard came to the rescue and returned the little dog. Tofu has since been reunited with her people. (patch, abc)
  3. The rainy season in Long Beach is like an upset boss – who storms back in, ready to say “and something else!” And just like this boss, the rain is pouring down from heaven again today, Tuesday and Wednesday. The good news is that this storm is not as powerful as the last. The bad news is that streams and rivers that are already at their maximum capacity are likely to overflow. Forecasters expect Long Beach to make it 2.36 inches of rain between 5 p.m. Monday and 11 p.m. Wednesday.” (Long Beach Post)
  4. It’s Pi Day and the Pie Bar at 450 Pine Avenue has big plans! Come in today between 11am and 9pm and if you’re one of the first 200 customers, you’ll get a Key Lime Pie Shot for $3.14 . You get pet pies for your four-legged friend and a white chocolate raspberry pie for yourself that will make you cry. By the way, you can park behind the Pie Bar for FREE — for two hours. (patch)
  5. The city continues to redouble its efforts to help neighbors who are homeless. On Saturday, it will host a drive-thru donation event at Veterans Stadium. Meet at the East Conant Street car park between 9am and 1pm Stay in your car while delivering things needed, including hygiene kits, pet grooming kits, gently used blankets and towels, and non-perishable foods. Make a leap into spring cleaning this year and empty your closet! (City of Long Beach)
